The managers of this family estate, purchased in 1934, set great store by maturing their wines in the finest tradition, whilst integrating modern techniques.
The wines are matured for a period of eighteen months in oak barrels, one third of which are renewed each year.
A significant proportion of Cabernet Franc brings a floral, fruity character to the wine's bouquet.
Although its primary taste is supple, Château Ferrand is a well structured wine that gives a pleasant, delicate finish. |
On the southern slope of the Pomerol plateau, soils are comprised of ancient sands, slightly gravelly and characterised by a considerable content of soft tertiary sandstone containing iron oxide.
